Second, it was a very necessary change, wasn't just an evil intention from Mojang to split the Playerbase, with Dual Wielding and Shields getting added it was necessary to make Combat interactive and not just a "Spam Blocking and Spam Attack" the Cooldown also grants Mojang more open possibilities to add new Weapons, which is what we are looking right now in recent Updates. I am pretty sure the people who complain Minecraft is not same anymore, would be complaining right now that Mojang is not adding new Content (In the case Mojang tried to keep Minecraft simple) As right now I think the game is taking a good direction with the Updates Themes. This at the end it's just the classic move of a lot of Purist wanting their Indie Games not growing in Player Base and keep their Nostalgia feeling forever. But from that timeline I've been experiencing and looking to the Controversy by itself.įirst is that this Update got lot of Pressure because it was the first Update in getting released without Notch, so lot of ignorant people and players with misleading intentions started targeting Microsoft as the main Responsable of these changes and automatically claimed the game as Dead/Ruined. Now that the game is more clean the Developers can listen even better the Community of which Features they want in the game without have to get interrupted by constant Spam of people screaming for old Combat System.įrom 2015 when the Changes started I just considered the new Mechanics and still with a Neutral opinion, at the end I was open to any new change in Development, the Combat Update got released and enjoyed the final results. And the worst part were these players crossing the Border of even send Death Treats to the Developers, which mirrored how toxic they were for the Community. Because let's face it, during the Development of 1.9 the Developers aimed the new Mechanics to the Core Game, Survival and Hardcore Mode, not just a Multiplayer Base that enjoyed Click-Spam. I know this isn't the best news for the game, since they added numbers to the player base, but they aren't the Main Community of this game, it's a little portion that added nothing to the game just extra toxicity. I won't say it was everyone but a huge chunk of these players were very toxic manners that couldn't handle a lost, from my experience it was a huge chaos, specially the Hackers which also contribute to make the game look toxic, the "VIP" Players getting insulted because they had special cosmetic in Servers. The thing is, since the game released 1.9 it was like a Purge IMO, because the Multiplayer Community in general aimed to PvP players, all these people starting moving on from this game. Well, currently the game is at very amazing point, some old and good players are coming back, others discovered the game recently. So yeah, Minecraft community, keep being you! And to top it off, most of this community is pretty chill and positive. No worrying about what others think and I can feel proud about my accomplishments without simultaneously feeling inferior to those better than me. That's exactly why I decided to pick up MC for good again. ![]() The negativity really gets to you after a while and it becomes a chore to play those games because you know that wether you do well or not, there will be toxicity. Not to mention the subreddits for multiplayer games like that are usually just an influx of complaints. Hell, even when I do well, there is always someone complaining or being toxic about something or someone on our team. I can't tell you how many times I've been told to kill myself in Overwatch because I wasn't able to perform perfectly like all players obviously should at all times (/s) and was treated like absolute trash for it. It's all complaining about the game and trash talking others. ![]() While these games are fun, the multiplayer community of these games (and games in general) absolutely suck. In the past 3 years I've dedicated most of my gaming time to Overwatch and now, recently, CoD Black Ops 4. I've dabbled in worlds for a few hours then get bored and stop playing. So I was hardcore addicted to Minecraft about 5 years ago but haven't played much since. (#spoiler) = neat!
